Viva Las Vegas and we will stay together with you all Vegas Strong!October 09, 2017
I think I speak for many in LV and around the globe that we all know someone who was at this event, was hurt or killed. This being in my own backyard Las Vegas has brought a whole different perspective. It seems so odd to me to see plastered on every channel the words Vegas Massacre when we have always been a city of celebration of life. Thank God my friends are OK although a few were in attendance at the event and are traumatized. There is certainly a shadow on our hearts for our wonderful city and all those who have suffered at the hands of this sick person. We pray for all the victims and their families and the psychological well-being and recovery of our colleagues, who even though escaped the concert physically OK will have some healing of spirit. For those who want to participate there is donation information on www.lvmpd.com and click on Route 91 Tragedy. I know it has affected us locally, nationally, and throughout the world.

In response from Ray Baum:
Erika, thank you for your post. You hit the nail right on the head. This unfortunate act has once again changed the way we look at events, crowds, and how we live our lives. Just like 911 changed the way we travel and look at the world, we are now forced yet again to adapt to the unthinkable. Preparation is always the key and it starts with awareness of one's surroundings. Recovery takes time, and most of all, love and support from friends, family and strangers. As was evident in the rescue efforts.
I for one have a direct connection to last weeks shooting, as my friend's husband was one of the victims who was killed. As you can imagine, it has devastated not only the family, but the whole community over here in North OC. As a father of two, and someone who has gone to literally hundreds of concerts, I must be honest that I'm rethinking how I approach my attendance now. Especially since my daughter is now of concert age. I actually have a show I am attending this weekend in a small club and you can bet that I will be scoping an exit route.
I've made several donations to miscellaneous charities since this event took place, and I'm sure I am not done. We stand by you and your wonderful city and the people it represents. I will extend an invitation to talk to anyone who may be a little overwhelmed by this tragedy, or just simply needs an ear to express themselves to.
